Replacement mineral oil brake fluid for your Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. As supplied with our Shimano and Tektro/TRP bleed kits.
Comes in a handy 50ml or 100ml container - perfect sizes for brake bleeding.
How much fluid do I need? 50ml of brake fluid is enough to bleed a set of brakes (front and rear) once. 100ml will get you 2-3 bleeds. If your brakes haven't seen a bleed in over 2 years we recommend flushing the old stuff out, so you'll need at least 100ml brake fluid.
Never introduce mineral oil brake fluid into a brake designed to use DOT brake fluid. This can lead to seal damage, internal corrosion, voided warranties and unexpected brake behaviour.
Always be sure which brake fluid your brakes require before ordering. This information can often be found written on the master cylinder (lever), reservoir cap or in the documentation supplied with your brake or bike.Join over 75,000 riders who've bled their brakes with us! Very clear instructions make this process a breeze, made a massive difference to my neglected hydraulic brakes and saved me a fortune in workshop fees. There's enough fluid supplied in the kit to bleed my front and back tektro brakes at least twice. The only modification I would recommend is, instead of a plastic bag, drain the old brake fluid into another 20ml syringe (from ebay or wherever, several YouTube videos show how to use one) attched to the end of the upper fluid drain pipe. I tipped the supplied bag over and it leaked brake fluid all over the decking. An additional 20ml syringe prevented any spill while bleeding the back brake.
Epic supplied the full kit, clear instructions on how to change the oil and useful hints and pitfalls. The changing of the oil was so straight forward that I completed both brakes in my lunch hour. Would recommend that everyone should try this as its quicker than arranging the cycle shop to do it for you, never mind the added expense
My super squidgy brakes are now transformed to touch perfect stopping machines. The Epic bleed kit was easy to use. Apart from having difficulty determining how to open my Shimano bleed nipple - allen key rather than 7mm spanner - following Epic's instructions was very straightforward. Each step being described clearly. One improvement I'd make to the kit is to add a bottle that attaches to the tube instead of the bag descibed in step 7 for catching oil flowing out of the system. Otherwise great!
After my LBS closed down I had to find a solution to the dark art of bleeding brakes. I am happy to say that with the Epic kit the mystery is no more and the bleeding of brakes is EASY.
Absolutely fine. Brake bleed competed as expected.
